Julie Jones

Hi! I'm a thirty-something, work-from-home, scrapbooking, photo taking, crafting-something-all-the-time mom and wife. I am married to my very best friend, going on eight years now. We have a beautiful daughter, Jenna Beth, who just recently turned 5. We also have a cute little pug face puppy named Miles. I started scrapbooking in 2003 after my daughter was born and haven't stopped being crafty since! I guess child birth brought out my inner artist. Who knew? I am blessed beyond anything I deserve with wonderful friends and family who put up with my extreme dorkniness. I love my life and I love my Jesus. I am a happy, happy girl!

What is your inspiration for your scrapbooking?

How long can I make this list? My family, my friends. The connections people make just from saying hello to each other. Magazines, photos, great color combos, clothing, quotes. I feel like I'm always inspired by something.

What do you scrap the most?

My daughter, Jenna. I love recording the funny things she does at this stage. The most recent was when she asked me why God gave us eyebrows....serious ponderings of a five year old.

Why did you start scrapbooking?

Because of my daughter, Jenna. I had a huge desire to document her life. Her expressions, her face, her laugh, her personality. It just moved on from there and now I am documenting lots of the every day.

What are your favorite tools, supplies, etc..

I have to pick a favorite? That is like asking me to pick white chocolate over milk chocolate...it just doesn't work! I love ink and sanding and chipboard and patterned paper. Mixing patterned papers is one of my favorite things to do. I love my Herma Tab Dispenser and my glue dots. I love my Colorbox chalk inks, they are so subtle and pretty.

Best organization tip?

Don't scrapbook. then everything will always stay neat and organized! Seriously, picking up after each project is a great habit. It is also one that I struggle with. My art studio is a constant mess, although the rest of my house stays nice and clean all the time. It took me a while to find a system that worked for me, but I love to have my cardstock organized by ROYGBIV color and my patterned paper organized by manufacturer. My alphabet stickers are all together in one place, as well as my buttons, chipboard and other small embellishments. I like to group things together that, to me, go together.

Your scrapbooking Style?

Simple, graphic, linear with a splash of fun and unexpected.

Published work?

Feb 2005 Scrapbook Trends, July 2005 Scrapbook Trends, August 2005 Scrapbook Trends, August 2006 Scrapbook Trends, February 2006 Memory Makers, JoAnn's Essentials Idea Book Volume 1.

Personal Scrapbooking Goals?

To leave behind pieces of myself for my family. Pieces of our life. I love the idea of my great, great, great grandchildren looking through my scrapbooks and seeing what I was like as a young mother and wife. For them to be able to see what our life was like. The music we listened to. The hobbies we loved. The way we loved each other.
